Four Things That Made Me Smile Today
[Note: "Today" actually refers to Tuesday]. Between watching Alice In Wonderland (just wait for it on dvd unless you have a child) and trying to make one very tough decision, a few funny things happened. Contending with hard decisions, I have a feeling that where I am closing the door to one chapter of my life, I will also be opening many more in the future.
But, I digress. Back to what caused me to smile. Thanks to James The Infopreneur’s tweet, I’ve been introduced to Biz Information. I don’t know the formula but they determine the valuation of your site. Apparently Experiments In Passive Income (without proper monetization and an Archive page) is worth $112,291.2. Yes, down to the $.20! If you have that amount and are interested, feel free to contact me. Just kidding, kind of. No really.
I took that valuation with a grain of salt (after all, a lot of us on the internet have blogs and who knows what criteria is used for this valuation) but I couldn’t help smiling. To think that if I keep doing what I’m doing and keep trying to make it better….
What was the second thing that made me smile? Yes, Feedburner is showing me that I have hit my very small goal of “subscribers”. It’s taken me forever to get this amount of subscribers but I feel nothing less than excitement. It feels good knowing that someone out there is reading Experiments In Passive Income. I need to keep this excitement in check because it seems that subscribers can be fickle and drop you on the drop of a hat.
I called off sick today (was having an off-day) but spent the day pretty productive. While I await my writer to finish his assigned articles, I came across a “product” that I think has potential. Very quickly, I grabbed an old template and within a few hours, finished the affiliate site, registered the domain, set it up online and submitted it to the three big search engines. All that and without much of a plan. I have a great feeling about this mini-project. We will see in time. Being productive unexpectedly; that was the third thing that made me smile.
The fourth and last thing that made me smile was this awesome post I came across on Affiliate Blog Online. It made me smile because I had the same thoughts as they did regarding Amazon Associates program. They went from managing too many sites and earning $500/month to making a change in their strategy and earning $14000. And no, that’s not an extra zero. And yes, that’s for just one month, November 2009. You must absolutely read that post. What a “passive” income success story.
These things have been incredibly important in lifting my spirits because even though I run Experiments In Passive Income, I still carry some doubt. That’s funny because I also have a lot of faith in myself. What if my hard work is not good enough? What if I can’t do it?
No hard lessons for today. Leave the naysayers behind. Just count the good, call your parents or siblings and enjoy the small moments, not in the future, but today.

Hi! My name is Moon Hussain and I'm here to share all the strategies that I'll be experimenting with to earn passive income.
Congrats on your Subscriber goals and keep smiling!

Ms. Freeman@Baby Steps of an Internet Entrepreneur´s last blog ..How to Battle Spring Fever
Ms. Freeman,
It was a small goal and I’ll keep striving for more. Hope you’re having a great day!
Hey Moon!
Awesome, my site is worth $151k. but you know what, I’ll sell it to you for just $50k, is that a fair deal or what?
That valuation tool is way off.
A better one would be cubestat.com or the technorati one (google ‘technorait blog valuation tool’) and even those are worth way more. Realistically I’d say right now I could get maybe $3k for my blog which I would never sell at that price. I have worked hard to get to this level and I expect my growth to be a lot more from here on.
Always interesting to dream about things like this:)
Cool post!
Keep well!

Hiya Diggy,
I’ve always been a lurker at your site and very recently left a comment. Thanks for dropping by. Yeah, that valuation tool is wayyy off and it struck me as funny. Even cubestate.com says it’s worth about $4k, but c’mon now
Your blog is growing a lot, hope I can hit your numbers some day. Keep it rocking!
I checked out the value of my site – $111,480.32. I would take $10,000 for it! Great job on hitting your subscriber goals.

I know what you mean. Let’s see if I can spread my wings.
I think you are doing really well with your blog, Moon. I’m happy to see you have found a schedule that suits you. Your mini site fascinates me as well. Can we hear more about that in an upcoming post? I’m working on one as well and hope to finish it before the end of next week.
Thanks Bart. It’s been a roller coaster ride so far and I hope it gets even better in the future. I created a quick mini-site and don’t want to reveal much until the wheels are in motion, probably tomorrow or Saturday. The niche site will also be launching around the same time frame
I enjoyed creating a mini-site immensely. I guess I more loved how it all came together. I might end up creating another one next week (or heck, whenever the urge strikes me).
I will do a post on it when I feel the time is right Bart. Glad you’re interested
How’s Scores In Motion coming along?
Hopefully those four things that made you smile turn into five things tomorrow and six the next day…keep up the positive momentum!

Thanks Earl. Hope you’re enjoying your FL visit!
Success takes time, and while we’re waiting and doing our best we must always look at the bright side of everything. After all, dwelling on the negative has no benefit.
Negativity is always around the corner, hissing at us and telling us awful things. Results do take time. I think in that time though, we could “experiment” with other things. After 6 months or a year, you’ll know what works for you and what doesn’t
