Experiments In Passive Income Launch!

Hi Everyone! My name is Moon Hussain and I’ve been reading about making money online for about six months. That’s the problem; I read book after book, blog after blog, ebook after ebook, but have nothing to show for this knowledge. Today, I have decided to take action.
Here’s a bit of background on me: I live in Delaware, work as a full-time programmer, LOVE indian/pakistani food, and love my cats. Maybe that’s too much information.
I started reading about making money online because I really dislike the 9-5 work schedule. How many of you spend all 7-8 hours of that time being productive? People seem to fall into this trap because they think “that’s how the world works.” My job is fairly interesting. I program for a user base of a few hundred; doesn’t mean I want to sit behind a desk for the rest of my life.
I came to an interesting post on Yaro’s website, How to get a successful website in 12 months using only Google. Here are a few of the key points that I’ll be following:
-It is suggested to build a 100 pages of real content, excluding fluff like the About page
-Create quality, related cross links (from within your site)
There’s a lot more to the article, which I suggest you do. That’s what the webmasterworld tips suggest. Will I be following to a tee? No, but I’ll use similar goals.
MY GOALS
1. Create 30 quality entries before launching my blog
2. Create at least 5 “pillar” articles
3. Create 2 YouTube videos (step out of my comfort zone!)
4. Deadline: November 30th, 2009
Ok, Moon, breath! This isn’t so bad: prioritize. I’ll either fail or succeed; either way, you get to watch and learn valuable lessons from me.
P.S. If you like where this is heading, PLEASE promote the blog by tweeting this article!
Edit 12/2/2009: Yeah, 30 articles of real content? That’s a joke! (At least for me, I work full-time as well). This blog is about discovering and reporting about any ventures that result in passive income. It will be developed in time. I’m learning as I go and my only hope is that you can walk away with something new from this blog every time.

Hi! My name is Moon Hussain and I'm here to share all the strategies that I'll be experimenting with to earn passive income.
Hey Moon! Congratulations on the launch! I have a fairly similar goal…very similar goal actually. In fact, it seems to me that we’re at the same point at roughly the same time. I’d encourage you to stop by my blog (www.1000waystomakemoneyonline.com) and see if there’s anything that can help you out. I’ll definitely be keeping up with your blog as it grows.
If there’s anything I can do to help, drop me a line. Hopefully we can lick this “day job” thing together.
Cheers and keep up the good work!
Reed
Hi Reed,
Nice of you to drop by
I will definitely check out your blog and your posts. I should be creating a blogroll soon and I’ll have you on the list. I just started this blog, but I will start promoting it soon.
I’m definitely on board for helping each other with this!
Moon
Hey Moon!! Like Reed, I’m kinda following the same path. I’ve been trying to do some of this stuff, but I just keep getting sidetracked and getting lost in all the possibilities and options out there. So feel free to pass advice my way, and hopefully we can help each other achieve our dreams!! Good luck!!
Hi Steven,
Thanks for stopping by! I’m flattered. Feel free to ask any questions you have or suggest what I can expand on. Have you tried any forms of passive income yet? Most importantly, how did you find my blog?
Anyway, hope to see you around!
Hey Moon!! I’m sure I’ll be asking some questions at some point. I’ve signed up for a couple affiliate programs, but I think I’m getting the horse in front of the cart. I don’t have good enough content yet, so my traffic is pretty much non-existent. Also using Google Adsense, but only received a few clicks so far. But seeing just a few clicks gives me hope, and I can definitely see where having a site with good traffic could generate some passive income. I think I found your blog from a comment on Smart Passive Income -http://www.smartpassiveincome.com.
It’s the whole chicken and egg thing, which one came before? You need good content to attract people, but how do you get the people to come read your content?
Keep up with quality content and make sure to promote the hell out of it!
Hey Moon, great to see your site (love the theme btw)!
Looks like you and I are heading off on similar paths into a passive income journey. I’m also working full time, so finding it a ‘challenge’ to get the content out there (I have the ideas, but getting them ‘audience-ready’ always takes so much longer than I think it will.) Your 2nd Dec EDIT to the above post, brought a wry smile to my face, as I have just written a post about the self-imposed issues I’ve had producing content.
I’ll definitely be popping by a lot to see how you are getting on seeing as we are on such parallel paths. Please feel free to pop by my site sometime and say hi.
Cheers,
Tim
p.s. found you on Pat’s “The Smart Passive Icome Blog”
Welcome Tim!
It’s funny that I read so much content for months but it took only one week (not even) to start this blog. Content has been a bit challenging, but not bad. My biggest challenge is that I don’t want to just write what people (should) do for passive income, I want to try various methods and report back to you guys. You all will know what works, what doesn’t, and hopefully we can all learn a lot.
I will be by soon to check out your blog! I’m stuck in Virgina, on a road trip to CA, this storm is hitting the east coast hard!
Trying and reporting is so much better then just talking theory. I’ll be following you.

Glad I’ve got you on board! Feel free to share any strategies. I have to read your article “eHow Apologizes” soon.
