About Me
Hi there!
As I update this about page, I am marking that the original About Me page was published on November 29th, 2009. Today, it is January 1st, 2012. Wow, even I can’t believe how long ago I started this blog!
EIP is officially over two years old.
You are obviously here to learn all about the wonderful things you can about passive income, setting up websitesand becoming the next internet rockstar.
I remember the first time I ever learned about making money online. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. While the basics still apply today, you bet there are plenty of people like you and me trying to make it online.
EIP was started to document my journey as I started my own affiliate and niche sites. Back then, I was working as the official programmer for my local school district on the east coast. Around the same time, I also caught the west coast bug.
In 2010, I quit my comfortable job that paid me $60,000 / year, which many consider to be “pretty good pay” for starting right after college. I can’t disagree. However, “the California bug” had bit me; I made the leap and moved to the west coast, about thirty minutes away from San Diego.
Over the last two years, I have created several affiliate and niche sites but the pay-off hasn’t been good. I earn very minimal money from these sites (just from a couple of the sites). A good part of this is my fault.
When you are living off of your savings, at some point, you run out. That’s what happened to me: late last year, I realized I needed to start earning an income without resorting to selling drugs or prostitution (that goal has been easy to keep
. Investing in my websites at that point seemed like too much of a risky venture.
Fast Forward to Today…
Taking everything into account, things are going well and I can see my path a lot clearer. I did things that most people wouldn’t do and failed at things that most people can do easily. I made a huge move to the west coast (and am loving it) yet I refuse to begin a search for a soul crushing 9 to 5 job.
But that’s where things get interesting. Last year, around September, I rediscovered the Warrior Forum all over again. While one needs to remain cautious in that space, I came across a couple of worthwhile WSOs. Combining them with my own SEO skills that I have acquired in the last two years (thanks to my affiliate and niche sites), I landed my first client last October.
This client still remains with me. We are beginning to see great results from the work I am doing for him. Two more clients like him and I could easily replace the income from my last job.
Yes, so the new year (2012) begins with grand goals. You can read all about them here.
If you are here to learn how passive income works or how to build your own business so you can slowly (and successfully) build your passive income ventures, you’re at the right place.
I have successfully ranked several websites for myself as well as for my client.
I am not done. I am just getting started. For the sake of documenting where I started and how the journey is going, I’m leaving my first “About Me” page text untouched below.
If you’re still here, thanks for sticking around. I hope to see a lot more of you around here!
So you want to know more about me, hm? Well, fine, you asked to be tortured so here goes:
I have a BS in Computer Science and graduated about two and a half years ago. I have only held two jobs in my entire life, the second of which where I’m working full-time currently as a .NET programmer.
I have a lot to be thankful for in my life, including my job, but I want to achieve so much more. I want to earn passive income so I can travel whenever my heart desires, work from wherever in the world I want, interact with all the awesome people I find along the way. I’m guessing you’re here because you have similar goals.
It’s hard to have a full-time job AND to dabble with other projects at the same time. I’m sure many of you are in the same boat (but even if you’re not), I’m here to share any secrets of any successes that come my way (if I’m so blessed, *snicker*). I promise to be approachable and answer any questions you might have.
Should we keep going? Ok, ok. I love my video game consoles dearly and can’t help but buy most of them every cycle. I built my first computer ever2-3 months ago. I reside on the east coast and dream of living on the west cost, hopefully starting in San Diego. I love taking road trips and have taken several down to Florida and back. I also took a road trip all the way to California and back. All this in my glamorous *cough* Nissan Sentra. I am about to do the same in a month.
Drop me a line any time. It’ll be good to have fuel for the fire!
